    Resources and Allies

    Currency:
    - Crown - currency used in Redania. 1 Crown = 100 coppers
    - Floren - currency used in Nilfgaard

You obviously never travel with too much money in coins. It's quite dangerous and honestly, you'd need a separate pack mule to carry the bags with money for you.
Even the wealthier characters keep only 100-200 florens/crowns on themselves in a small sack or two. The rest is often carried as Trinkets.
Trinkets is a general name for valueable items - small and not too heavy. They can be rings or other jewelerry, made of gold or silver and precious gems. They might be bills of exchange, letters of credit and suchlike. If you happen to own a bigger amount of money they are likely put into Trinkets, and you can sell them in bigger cities.
Most often 1 Trinket = 100 florens, but it can be more or less depending on where you sell it and how you negotate the price. There's no way to sell these in smaller locations ie Taverns.
Don't forget many of the Trinkets might also have emotional value for you - a silver pin of your mother, your wedding ring, your portrait by a befriended artist, a gift from your lost love. It might be not so easy to part with these items.

RULE: In character creation you get about 2000-6000 florens to spend. The way to spend these is more or less: half on your house and income - half on your allies, friends and family, and optionally title (noble, religious, martial, of honour).
You can always change the proportion - a wealthier character will discover it's lonely on the top, a poor one will value his friends and family.
You also need to purchase Equipment and it's good to have some spare coins too.

    HOUSE
Describe your house, and -if applicable- its surroundings (if you have animals, small field, do you own some forest or workshop). If you're wealthy you might own some real estate of more value - a village may cost around 1000 florens. A wealthier village about 2000 florens. A castle/manor of your own is about 15 000 florens. Remember, if you plan to sell something bigger, like a plantation, a mill or a field, you won't find a buyer easilyv. It can take some time befor eyou get any offers. Also, often these things are your inheritance and it might be seen negatively if you carlessly sell them.
If you plan to buy something, it's good to remember that they can give you a smller or bigger income, provided they're not razed/pillaged/burnt and if your peasants actually work...

A bigger library or laboratory also costs 1000 florens. Same for a house in the city.
Each of the resources facilitates development of some Abilities and Traits, ie chapel helps to develop Faith, laboratory can give Occult or Medicine etc.

    INCOME
Some bigger Resources bring income (ie field, mill, village), some bring prestige in various circles(ie laboratory, library, chapel); some cost additional upkeep (ie stables, castle). Remember that you get your income as ie 120 florens a year - so 12 florens a month - during the game. During the character creation you "invest money" to get your stable income and proper background. If you choose a title you need to separately purchase also it's income - ie if you're a lieutenant in the army (1000 florens) you need may to additionally purchase a suitable income ie 2000 florens as lieutenant's pay.

Of course you can own nothing but what you have with you, yet the characters from your. The circles who know of it may perceive you with lower Trustworthiness - if you own just a few items and sleep by friends' houses or mostly camp in the forests you're less "normal" or predictable than a common society member

    TITLES AND LAURELS
You can also choose to have a title - noble, military, religious or of honor - these cost 10-40 Trinkets.

You can also choose a laurel - a distinct sign of being most equisite and somehow chosen in a given country or field - each laurel costs 50 Trinkets. It might come in a form of a medal or a recognisable item (pin of an elite military unit, ancient family sword), it might connect with a semi-legendary title given to your character - ie The Laughing Lion of Cintra.

    ALLIES
Allies are your Helpers/Retainers, and Friends or Family Member. Helpers and Retainers are often people of lower social position than you ie a page or servant, wandering monk, chambermaid. Friends and Family Members are people of the same or higher social position; a Friend powerful or old enough might act as your patron or just an ally (maybe it's your uncle or your father's old friend? or you're a bastard and it's your real father? or you're bethrothed or married to his daughter?).
Describe shortly each Ally - how are you connected, how long does the person knows you, what are her strong points (wealthy? brave? cunning?)

Each Helper/Retainer costs 1 Trinket (2 if they travel with the PC).
Each Friend costs 3 Trinkets (6 if they travel with the PC).

The Bond describes how close are you with your Ally - for a Helper/Retainer the assigned Bond is max 1 at character creation, the Bond of a Friend or Family Member is max 5. You can raise the Bond during the character creation - the cost is 50 florens per 1 dot.
During character creation - and while purchasing higher Bond level with xp - the Bonds of Helpers/Retainers may never raise above 5.
Bond 1 means pure business relationship, Bond 10 means friendship for life and death.

At character creation you can have max 4 Allies.

Most common archetypes of Allies are listed here. The cost modifier in the brackets shows the additional cost of RAISING the Bond if purchased with the XP during the game (not during character creation!).

    Aristocrat (+40%)
    Peasant
    Courtier (+40%)
    Diplomat (+40%)
    Spy (+30%)
    Tavern Owner
    Priest(ess) (+20%)
    Prince (+50%)
    Merchant (+10%)
    Armorer (+20%)
    Medic (+20%)
    Lawyer (+20%)
    Craftsman (+10%)
Servant (paid 5 florens per month)
    Noble (+30%)
    Scientist (+30%)
    Minstrel (+10%)
    Wanderer
    Monk (+20%)
    Warrior (+10%)
    Beggar
